College Week and Other Activities

College Week Dress Up Days

Hats off to College

Wear a College Shirt

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Thank you to the College Week Parent Speakers!

 Week full of learning:

We wrote numbers in glitter.

We studied our five sense on dovewhisper.com.

In math games we played Shape Concentration.

Math tubs is a great place to sort.

Thank you to everyone for sending in the quilt squares!  Our ABC Quilt looks GREAT!

We went on a shape hunt around the school.  Look at all the shapes we found!

We concluded our study of the 5 Senses!
We tasted lemon juice, honey, salt, and cocoa and voted on the taste.
We listened to eggs and made predictions as to what was inside.
We used our sense of touch to feel hidden objects inside a bag.
To test the importance of our sense of sight we attempted to draw the same picture with our eyes open and shut.
There were hidden objects inside bags that we smelled and predicted what was inside.

Pete the Cat Author Visit

We LOVED the author visit from the Pete the Cat books.  They were So much fun!  If you would like to see them, they will be at Barnes and Noble in the mall at 6:00 tonight.  A proceeds from their sales will go to our Shawnee Trail library.

Successful September Start

GERMS GERMS GERMS!  We did a science experiment called Glitter Germ to demonstrate how easily germs can spread.  We also learned that germs hate soapy water, so we are going to wash our hands all the time!

Remember that if your child would like to celebrate their birthday at school, they can bring a store bought item to share with the class at the end of the day.
Ms. Way is our guidance counselor.  She will meet with our class regularly for character building lessons.
In science we discussed how items can be recycled or reused.
Every student has great ideas!  After writing about the Labor Day weekend we had a Walk and Talk Pair Share.  This allowed the students to read their stories with several other students and hear about our adventurous weekends.

Puzzles help us to learn spatial awareness and rhyming words.  Ask your child to tell you two words that rhyme.
The class enjoyed an entertaining magic show by James Wand that taught us about having a "Bully Free" school:
